Evergy's Transmission Line Proposal
Evergy is proposing to construct a new, approximately 133-mile, 345 kV transmission line that is part of a larger Southwest Power Pool ("SPP") project to address reliability issues experienced during extreme cold weather events. The transmission line will be constructed using either steel single poles or H-frame structures. The structures will be spaced about 600 to 1500 feet apart. The minimum ground clearance for the line will meet 345 kV circuit standards required by the National Electric Safety Code.
With the Commission's approval, Evergy would begin working with affected landowners to acquire easements by January 2027. Construction is scheduled to take about 24 months beginning by January 2028 and completed by December 2029.
