CITY COUNCIL NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING JANUARY 20, 2026 AT 7:00 PM
NOTICE IS HEARBY GIVEN that the Benton City, City Council will conduct an Open Public Hearing on January 20, 2026 at 7:00 pm to consider a request for expansion of the Benton City Urban Growth Boundary (UGB) also known as the Urban Growth Area (UGA) totaling approximately 54.05 acres.
Any person who would like to express their views regarding this matter are invited to attend and provide comment at the public hearing. Persons may also submit written comment. In order to be part of the initial packet, written comments must be submitted to the City 7 days in advance of the packet publication. Written comment submitted after this deadline will be accepted and entered into the official record up until the close of the Public Hearing.

At the conclusion of the hearing the Planning Commission will consider the matter and issue a recommendation to the City Council for approval, approval with conditions, or denial of the proposed action.
Project Applicant: Benton City
Project Description: The City is proposing to expand its urban growth boundary to include areas that are contiguous with the City limits as well as contiguous with additional urban growth areas. The expansion consists of several parcels located in two areas. Area 1 consists of approximately 33.61 acres and is located north of West Old Inland Empire Highway (OIE) and east of Highland Road. The proposed designation is Residential. Area 2 abuts the Yakima River and consists of several parcels located west of 14th Street and south of N Kendall Road SW
totaling approximately 21.04 acres, 3.53 acres is proposed to be residential to reflect the existing use, and the remaining acres will be designated as park.
