CITY OF ORTING NOTICE OF APPLICATION NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Orting Senior Center has applied for an approximately 1,500 square foot expansion, remodel, and associated site improvements at 112 Varner Ave SE (parcel no. 6565000501). The proposal would improve the recently combined lots with an expansion and remodel of the existing structure, parking improvements, and landscaping. The public is invited to comment. The public comment period ends September 2, 2026 at 5pm. Any person may comment on the application, receive notice of and participate in any hearings, and request a copy of the decision once made. Any person with standing may appeal the final decision. All application materials are public record and may be requested for viewing by any member of the public by appointment. The SEPA Lead Agency expects to issue a Determination of Nonsignificance (DNS) for the proposal. The optional DNS process set forth in WAC 197-11-355 is being used. This may be the only opportunity to comment on the environmental impacts of the proposal. The proposal may include mitigation measures under applicable codes, and the project review process may incorporate or require mitigation measures regardless of whether an EIS is prepared. A copy of the subsequent threshold determination for the specific proposal may be obtained upon request.
