AGAINST SIMPSON TACOMA KRAFT COMPANY, LLC
IF YOU OR A FAMILY MEMBER MAY HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO ASBESTOS AT OR FROM THE FORMER SIMPSON TACOMA KRAFT PULP AND PAPER MILL IN TACOMA, WASHINGTON, YOU MUST FILE A CLAIM BY AUGUST 10, 2026, at 5:00 p.m PACIFIC TIME TO PRESERVE YOUR RIGHTS.
This notice is sent to inform you of an important deadline in the bankruptcy case of Simpson Tacoma Kraft Company, LLC (the "Company"), Case No. 26-11643-CMA, pending in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Washington (the "Bankruptcy Court"). Please read this notice carefully. It may affect your legal rights, even if you are not sick today.
About the Company and the Mill
The Company formerly operated a pulp and paper mill located at 801 E. Portland Avenue Tacoma, Washington 98421 (the "Mill") from 1985 through 2014. The Mill produced bleached and unbleached packaging grade paper, linerboard, and unbleached kraft pulp. The Company sold the Mill in March 2014. The Mill itself ceased operations in September 2023 under a subsequent owner.
Why You May Be Receiving This Notice
You may have a legal claim against the Company arising from asbestos exposure if, during the period from 1985 through 2014, you:
Worked at the Mill as a Company employee;
Worked at the Mill as a contractor, subcontractor, or vendor (including in maintenance, construction, demolition, insulation, abatement, or shutdown work);
Lived with someone who worked at the Mill and may have brought asbestos fibers home on clothing, tools, or vehicles;
Were otherwise present at the Mill or in close proximity to its operations.
You may also have a claim on behalf of a deceased family member who falls into any of the above categories.
Important: Asbestos-Related Illness Can Develop Decades After Exposure
Asbestos is a fiber which causes asbestos-related disease that can be very serious or fatal and include diseases such as mesothelioma, lung cancer, laryngeal cancer, esophageal cancer, pharyngeal cancer, stomach cancer, and asbestosis, among other diseases. Even if your exposure was many years ago and you are not sick today, this notice could affect you. Asbestos-related illness can occur decades after the exposure to asbestos caused the illness.
You must file a claim by the bar date of August 10, 2026 even if you are not sick today. If you do not file a claim by the bar date, you will likely lose your right to any compensation from the Company if you become sick in the future from asbestos exposure at or from the Mill.
The Bar Date
The Bankruptcy Court has set August 10, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. prevailing Pacific Time as the deadline (the "Asbestos Claim Bar Date") by which all persons asserting any present or future asbestos-related claim against the Company must file a proof of claim with the Bankruptcy Court.

You do not need to be sick today to file a claim. The claim form for persons not currently diagnosed with an asbestos-related disease asks only for basic information about your potential exposure and contact information for future notice.
What Happens If You File a Claim
Filing a claim preserves your right to seek compensation from the Company if you develop an asbestos-related disease, whether now or in the future. Receiving this notice does not mean you have been exposed to asbestos or are entitled to compensation. Whether and how much you may recover depends on the outcome of the bankruptcy case, your individual circumstances, and any future claims-resolution procedures approved by the Bankruptcy Court.
