Notice of Funding Consideration, Public Meeting, and Comment Period
On behalf of the City of Tacoma, the Tacoma Community Redevelopment Authority (TCRA) is accepting public comments on applicants requesting federal funds derived from the Home Investment Partnerships Program (HOME), the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG), and local funds from the Affordable Housing Fund for the development and preservation of affordable housing and for assistance to first-time homebuyers to purchase single-family homes in Tacoma. Written comments will be accepted from Monday, June 29, 2026 through Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Oral comments will be taken at an open public meeting occurring at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026. Comments will be taken on the following applicants:
Mercy Housing Northwest (Mason on Madison Family Housing project) for the construction of 99 multifamily rental units located at 2710 North Madison St in Tacoma's North End, serving households with incomes up to 30%, 50%, and 60% of area median income (AMI).
Bethlehem Baptist Church (Bethlehem House of Bread project) for the construction of 43 multifamily rental units, located at 4818 E Portland Ave in Tacoma's Eastside neighborhood, serving households with incomes up to 50% and 60% of AMI.
Great Expectations SPC (Arbutus House project) for the construction of 130 multifamily rental units at 109 S 25th St in the Tacoma Dome District, serving households with incomes up to 30% and 60% of AMI.
Episcopal Retirement Communities (B Street project) for the construction of 52 multifamily rental units at 9501 E B St in South Tacoma, serving seniors aged 62+ with incomes up to 60% of AMI.
Multicultural Child and Family Hope Center (Ferry Street Affordable Housing Preservation project) for the acquisition of 10 single-room occupancy units at 1220, 1224, 1242 Ferry St in Tacoma's Hilltop neighborhood, serving residents aged 18-24 with incomes up to 50% AMI who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
The TCRA will consider all public comments when determining which projects will be awarded funding. If funded, these projects may undergo an additional public review under the National Environmental Protection Act.
