NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY AND COMMENT PERIOD
OF DETERMINATION OF NONSIGNIFICANCE
STATE ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY ACT (SEPA)
BONNEY LAKE HIGH SCHOOL EXPANSION
AND REMODEL PROJECT
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT SUMNER-BONNEY LAKE SCHOOL DISTRICT, as Lead Agency, has issued on June 9, 2026, pursuant to WAC 197-11-340, a Determination of Nonsignificance under the State Environmental Policy Act for the proposed 42,000 square foot classroom and administration addition and 16,000 square feet of renovation of the existing school building. The Project will also include: (i) renovation of the existing baseball and softball fields and the multi-purpose field with the installation of synthetic turf fields and lighting to provide year around availability for students and the Bonney Lake community, (ii) improvements to the on-site queuing and pick-up and drop-off areas, and (iii) construction of a multi-lane roundabout at the intersection of 199th Avenue Court East and the High School entrance on 199th Avenue Court East. Bonney Lake High School is located at 10920 199th Avenue Court East, Bonney Lake, Washington (Pierce County Tax Parcel No. a portion of 519033005, and all of Tax Parcel Nos. 519044027, 519044013, 519044014, 519048020, 519048019, and 519048018).
Sumner-Bonney Lake School District has determined that the Proposal does not have probable significant adverse impacts on the environment with the mitigation proposed and incorporated as part of and into the Project as set forth in the Checklist. An environmental impact statement (EIS) is not required under RCW 43.21C.030(2)(c). This decision was made after review of a completed State Environmental Policy Act Environmental Checklist with Appendices submitted by the District, consisting of engineering reports, environmental studies and reports, plans, an Inadvertent Discovery Plan, and other information on file with the District.
