Site Background: The site includes several different parcels. Today, most of the parcels within the site are used for industrial purposes. The proposed interim action work will take place on two Port of Tacoma-owned parcels. Before the Port purchased these two parcels, they were used as an unpermitted landfill for industrial waste. Today, the two interim action parcels are vacant and undeveloped. The Port is negotiating a 50-year lease agreement for these parcels. Auto fluff with hazardous chemicals is in the eastern portion of the two parcels that the Port proposes to develop. The Port of Tacoma is requesting this interim action to prevent workers and wildlife from being exposed to hazardous chemicals in the soil. This interim action will also occur during the Port's invasive snail (Mediterranean vineyard snail) eradication project. Questions?
