State Route 162 Orting Vicinity Roundabout and Fish Passage Project
The Washington State Department of Transportation, 7407 31st Ave NE Lacey, WA 98516-3011, is seeking coverage under the Washington State Department of Ecology's Construction Stormwater NPDES and State Waste Discharge General Permit.
The proposed project, SR162 Orting Vicinity – Roundabout and Fish Passage, will occur on SR 162 Pioneer Way E, in the city of Orting located in Pierce County. The Compact roundabout will be constructed in the same footprint as the existing SR 162 Pioneer Way E and Orville Rd. E intersection to extend southeast of the current intersection footprint. The fish passage construction continues on SR 162 extending past the roundabout project area, and construction ends approximately 53 miles south of South Prairie.
This project involves 16.8 acres of soil disturbance for highway or road construction activities.
The receiving waters are Card Creek and Rauch Creek which connect to Carbon River.
Any persons desiring to present their views to the Washington State Department of Ecology regarding this Application, or interested in Ecology's action on this Application, may notify Ecology in writing no later than 30 days of the last date of publication of this notice. Ecology reviews public comments and considers whether discharges from this project would cause a measurable change in receiving water quality, and, if so, whether the project is necessary and in the overriding public interest according to Tier II anti-degradation requirements under WAC 173-201A-320.
