Draft Environmental Impact Report
Notice is hereby given that the Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments (AMBAG) has released the following documents for public review and comment and will be holding public hearings and workshops to receive public comment: the Draft 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP); its Sustainable Communities Strategy (SCS); and the Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) prepared for the 2050 MTP/SCS and associated Regional Transportation Plans (RTPs) for Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz counties.
Project Location
The 2050 MTP/SCS and the Draft EIR have been released for a 74-day public review/comment period beginning November 17, 2025.
The 2050 MTP/SCS is the region's long range land use and transportation plan through 2050 for the three-county Monterey Bay metropolitan region, including Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz counties.The 2050 MTP/SCS provides the framework for land use patterns that seeks to increase the quality of life and implements the best transportation choices to support those land use patterns for the future based on anticipated available funding over the next 25 years.The Draft EIR provides an analysis of environmental impacts related to the implementation of the 2050 MTP/SCS, as well as the associated RTPs for Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz counties. It discloses anticipated significant environmental effects for the following resource categories: aesthetics, agriculture, air quality, biological resources, cultural resources, energy, geology and soils, greenhouse gases and climate change, hazards, hydrology and water quality, land use, noise, population and housing, public services and recreation, transportation, tribal cultural resources, utilities and service systems, and wildfire.The following statement is required to be included in this notice: Pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15087(c)(6), the 2050 MTP/SCS location contains hazardous waste sites (also known as Cortese List sites) as enumerated under California Government Code Section 65962.5.
