Notice of Provisional Appointment to the San Juan Unified School District Board of Education NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a vacancy occurred on the San Juan Unified School District's Board of Education on Aug. 21, 2026, as a result of the resignation of Trustee Abid Stanekzai. The resignation was filed on Aug. 21, 2026, and became effective on Aug. 21, 2026. On Oct. 13, 2026, the San Juan Unified School District's Board of Education provisionally appointed Mohammad Afzal Rashid to fill the vacancy. Unless a petition calling for a special election, containing a sufficient number of signatures, is filed in the office of the Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools within 30 days of the date of the provisional appointment (by Nov. 12, 2026), the provisional appointment shall become an effective appointment. Unless there is a special election pursuant to a petition under Education Code Section 5091, Mohammad Afzal Rashid will hold office as the San Juan Unified School District Board of Education Trustee for Area 1 until the next regularly scheduled election in 2028.
