NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING PLACER COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION WHERE: Planning Commission Hearing Room - 3091 County Center Drive, Auburn, CA 95603 WHEN: August 27, 2026, 9:00 AM, or as soon thereafter SUBJECT: Sierra Nevada Olympic Winter (SNOW) Museum and Community Cultural Center –General Plan Amendment, Rezone, Public Recreation Areas Ordinance Update, Conditional Use Permit (PLN16-00349), Adoption of the Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program for the Previously Certified Environmental Impact Report, Supervisorial District 5 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing at the above place and time to consider, and make a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors on, the Sierra Nevada Olympic Winter (SNOW) Museum and Community Cultural Center project. The subject project area includes portions of Assessor’s Parcel Numbers 096-290-021-000 and 096-290-056-000 and comprises ap- proximately 2.37 acres (with a disturbance area of 0.68-acre) of the 26.8-acre Olympic Valley Park site. The site is currently designated and zoned FR (Forest Recreation), and is located at 101 Olympic Valley Road, southwest of the intersection of Olympic Valley Road and State Route 89, in the unincorporated community of Olympic Valley. The Placer County Department of General Services and the SNOW Museum Foundation seek approval of: 1) a General Plan Amend- ment, 2) a Rezone, 3) a Public Recreation Areas Ordinance Amendment, and 4) a Conditional Use Permit to allow construction of a new two-story, approximately 20,000-square-foot, museum and community cultural center celebrating the 1960 Winter Olympics and Sierra Nevada winter sports history, while also providing space for community events and activities. The General Plan Amendment would amend the Olympic Valley General Plan Land Use and Zoning Ordinance by adding Section 261 to establish a Cultural Amenities (CA) Land Use District. And amend the land use designation and zoning of the approximately 2.37-acre project site from Forest Recreation (FR) to Cultural Amenities (CA). The project also seeks adoption of an ordinance to amend Section 12.24.040 of the Placer County Code to modify park operating hours and approval of a Conditional Use Permit to allow the proposed museum and community cultural center within the Cultural Amenities (CA) Land Use and Zoning District. The Planning Commission will also consider and make a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors to adopt a Resolution adopt- ing the Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program to the previously certified Environmental Impact Report (State Clearinghouse #2022030511) certified by the Placer County Board of Supervisors on February 27, 2024, and to make a finding that no changes have occurred in the project or to existing circumstances that would warrant additional environmental analysis.
