What is Being Requested? CalAm is requesting an increase in revenue of $38,613,073 or 38.33% from 2027–2029 for the Northern Division to upgrade and modernize the water system through proactive infrastructure improvements designed to keep water reliable for customers, make its communities safer, prevent small problems from getting bigger and more expensive to fix, increase sustainability, and provide high-quality service, both now and in the future. Some of the key projects CalAm proposes in this cycle are to: drill new wells, rehabilitate existing wells, treat per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)/perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and hexavalent chromium in affected wells, and replace water mains.
How Would This Impact the Average Residential Ratepayer? If the requested amount is approved, the increase would be phased in over three years. The average residential ratepayer with a 5/8-inch meter in the following service areas would see a total monthly rate increase as follows. The actual increase will vary based on usage.
SERVICE AREA Average Use (CGL*) PROPOSED TOTAL INCREASE
Sacramento 69.2 $22.36 Larkfield 60.5 $5.02 Meadowbrook 110.7 $17.32 Bass Lake 57.8 $15.10 Dunnigan Wastewater N/A $18.63
*1 CGL = 100 gallons
