NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CIRCULATE RECALL PETITION TO THE HONORABLE Jasjit Singh: Pursuant to Section 11020, California Elections Code, the undersigned registered qualified voters of Area 2 of the Sacramento Unified School District, in the State of California, hereby give notice that we are the proponents of a recall petition and that we intend to seek your recall and removal from the office of Area 2 Trustee in the Sacramento County Unified School District, in the State of California. The grounds for the recall are as follows: 1) Failure of leadership a. Mr. Singh has failed to provide either leadership or oversight in the face of bureaucratic ineptitude. This failure has caused some students to go without regular teachers for months. b. With a school in crisis due to the mistakes of district administrators, Mr. Singh has repeatedly refused to meet with parents or students. c. His failure to act has allowed this situation to spiral out of control resulting in irreparable harm to students, and a total breakdown of morale among teachers, parents, and students at the school. 2) Financial mismanagement of the district a. The district recently announced $59 million in debt b. This fiscal mismanagement will result in profound cuts to educational services, further harming students across the district. 3) Non-performance of the duties of his office. a. The primary duties of a Board member are to represent the students and parents of the district, to oversee the administration, and to maintain fiscal responsibility. Mr. Singh has failed in every one of those duties. As Mr. Singh has refused to meet with the parents he is supposed to represent, and has exercised no leadership over the bureaucracy, our only remaining option is this recall.
