Notice is hereby given that a Nonpartisan Municipal Special Election for the Town of Clover will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, per S.C. Code of Laws Section 7-13-190. The office of Town Council member shall be elected for reminder of the unexpired term to commence at the next occurring Town Council meeting after the Monday following the Special Election. If required, a runoff election will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
Candidate Filing: Any citizen desiring to be a candidate for the above listed office must be a qualified elector and resident of the Town of Clover. Each candidate must file a Statement of Intention of Candidacy Form with the Board of Voter Registration and Elections Office of York County during the filing period. Candidate filing will open at 12:00 noon on Friday, February 20, 2026 and close at 12:00 noon on Monday, March 2, 2026. A filing fee of ninety dollars and zero cents ($90.00) is to be paid at the time of filing by each candidate via check, cashier's check, or money order made payable to the York County Treasurer.
Voter Registration: Any person desiring to register to vote in person for this election must do so no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026 at the Board of Voter Registration and Elections Office of York County; or complete and submit an online voter registration application at www.scvotes.gov by Sunday, April 5, 2026 at 11:59:59 p.m.; or when registering via postal mail, applications must be postmarked no later than Monday, April 6, 2026.
Photo ID: Voters must provide one of the following Photo IDs when voting in person: S.C. Driver's License, S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles ID Card, S.C. Voter Registration Card with Photo, S.C. Concealed Weapons Permit, Federal Military ID (all DOD Photo IDs & VA Benefits Cards), U.S. Passport, or U.S. Passport ID Card. Voters should remember to bring one of these IDs with them to the polling place. Voters without Photo ID can get one free of charge from the S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles or the Board of Voter Registration and Elections Office of York County. For more information on Photo ID, visit www.scVOTES.gov.
Early Voting: The early voting period for this election begins on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. and ends on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. The following Early Voting Center will be open during the early voting period from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Closed for voting on weekends and legal holidays.

Absentee By-Mail: Registered voters who cannot vote in person at an Early Voting Center or on Election Day may be eligible to vote an absentee by-mail ballot. Call 803.684.1242 or visit the Board of Voter Registration and Elections Office of York County to request an application. The deadline to return your application is Friday, April 24, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. The process of examining the return-addressed envelopes containing absentee ballots will begin at Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in at the Board of Voter Registration and Elections Office of York County. The deadline to return an absentee by-mail ballot is 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.
Election Day: Voters desiring to cast their ballots on Election Day must do so at the precinct where they are registered. The polls shall be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the polling locations designated below and shall be open during these hours without intermission or adjourn. Polling locations are subject to change due to availability or unforeseen circumstances. Check polling locations at www.scvotes.gov.
