PUBLIC NOTICE The County of Durham had a discharge of untreated wastewater from our wastewater collection system near 4018 Patriot Drive of approximately 95,000 gallons. The discharge was discovered Tuesday, June 16, 2026, and occurred for approximately five (5) hours. The untreated wastewater entered into Stirrup Iron Creek in the Neuse River Basin due to a collapsed pipe. The pipe has been repaired. The notice is required by North Carolina General Statute Article 21, Chapter 143-215C. The Division of Water Resources was notified of the event on June 16, 2026, and is reviewing the matter.
