STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA COUNTY OF DURHAM IN THE GENERAL COURT OF JUSTICE DISTRICT COURT DIVISION FILE NO. 25JA000118-310 IN THE MATTER OF: J. K., DOB: 10/29/2025 NOTICE OF SERVICE OF PROCESS RE: Juvenile Petition/Custody TO: The mother, Jacqueline Kaiser, and any unknown father of a male child born on or about October 29, 2025, in Durham, North Carolina (Durham County, North Carolina), and placed in the custody of the Durham County Department of Social Services (North Carolina) since on or about November 10, 2025. PLEASE NOTE that a juvenile petition concerning the above-described minor child has been filed in the above-entitled proceeding. This proceeding is to determine whether the above-named child is neglected and/or dependent, and if the Court determines at the hearing on the petition that the allegations of neglect, or dependency are true, the Court will conduct a dispositional hearing to consider the needs of the juvenile and enter an order designed to meet those needs and the objectives of the State. The dispositional order, or a subsequent order, may: remove the juvenile from the custody of a parent, guardian, custodian, stepparent, adult member of the juvenile's household, or adult relative entrusted with the juvenile's care; place legal or physical custody of the juvenile with the parent, stepparent, adult member of the juvenile's household, or adult relative entrusted with the juvenile's care on the condition that that individual undergo medical, psychiatric, psychological, or other treatment; require that the juvenile receive medical, psychiatric, psychological, or other treatment and that the parent, guardian, custodian, stepparent, adult member of the juvenile's household, or adult relative entrusted with the juvenile's care participate in the treatment; require that the juvenile receive medical, psychiatric, psychological, or other treatment and that the parent, guardian, custodian, stepparent, adult member of the juvenile's household, or adult relative entrusted with the juvenile's care participate in the treatment; require the parent, stepparent, adult member of the juvenile's household, or adult relative entrusted with the juvenile's care to undergo psychiatric, psychological, or other treatment or counseling; order the parent, stepparent, adult member of the juvenile's household, or adult relative entrusted with the juvenile's care to pay for treatment that is ordered for the juvenile or that individual; and/or upon proper notice and hearing and a finding based on the criteria set out in G.S. 7B-1111, terminate the parental rights of the respondent parents. You are entitled to be represented by counsel. If you are indigent, counsel will be appointed for you. For further information, you may call the Deputy Clerk of Juvenile Court of Durham County at (919) 808-3125. There is no requirement for an Answer to the petition filed by the Durham County Department of Social Services. However, you must contact the Deputy Clerk of Juvenile Court of Durham County for further information as noted above. A hearing on the merits (Adjudication Hearing) is scheduled for July 6, 2026 at 9:00 AM in Durham County Courthouse, 510 South Dillard Street, Courtroom 5C, Durham, North Carolina.
