Notice of Sale Unclaimed Property
Pursuant to General Statutes of North Carolina, Chapter 15, Sections 11-16, notice is hereby given that on or about December 15h, 2025 the Town of Cary Police Department has in its possession various unclaimed property to include but not limited to backpacks, bicycles, tools, electronics, jewelry, rifles, shotguns, handguns and other miscellaneous items which have been held for more than sixty (60) days and other property that has been held for more than one hundred eighty (180) days as required by law. Any person who may have a claim for this property must report that claim to the Town of Cary Police Department within thirty (30) days of this notice and no later than January 15th, 2026. Unclaimed property will be sold at public auction by an independent online auction company or otherwise donated to a charitable organization or disposed of after February 1st, 2026.
Unclaimed firearms include but are not limited to the following makes- Smith & Wesson, Ruger, Taurus, Glock, Berretta, Bersa, Colt, Charter Arms, Mossberg, High Point, Trademark, Remington, CZ, and Walther firearms and various models.
Additionally, in accordance with General Statute15-12(b), the Cary Police Department will donate unclaimed bicycles that have been in the Department's possession for a period of sixty (30) days to a non-profit charitable organization exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Anyone having a claim to one of these bicycles should contact the Cary Police Department prior to February 1st, 2026.
