Holding Public Meetings for Revised Draft Environmental Impact Statement For Chehalis River Basin Flood Damage Reduction Project
The Department of Ecology (Ecology) invites you to comment on the revised draft environmental review of the proposed Chehalis River Basin Flood Damage Reduction project. The Chehalis River Basin Flood Control Zone District is proposing a project to reduce flood damage in the Chehalis-Centralia area by:
Constructing a flood retention facility and associated temporary reservoir near Pe Ell, Washington, on the Chehalis River
Making changes to the Chehalis-Centralia Airport levee
On Nov. 20, Ecology issued a news release announcing the department opened a 75-day public comment period to gather input from the public, Tribes and other interested parties regarding the state's revised draft environmental impact statement analyzing the proposed Chehalis River Basin Flood Damage Reduction project in Lewis County.
The public comment period ends Feb. 4, 2026. There are several ways to provide comments, including using our online comment form. New public meeting will be held at the date and time listed below.

Wednesday, Jan 21, 2026 in Boistfort: This open house also starts at 5:30 p.m. with an informational presentation at 6 p.m., followed by public comment. This event will be held at the Baw Faw Grange, located at 995 Boistfort Rd., Curtis, WA 98538
