The project, known as the LEAF Center, will include early learning classrooms with attached outdoor backyard play areas, gross motor skill indoor play areas, administrative offices, a kitchen, a library in partnership with Timberland Regional Libraries, shared public playground, associated parking facilities and drives, utilities, and ROW and frontage street improvements. The project will be located on a vacant parcel just north of Nisqually Middle School. The general scope of work includes: Site demolition, reroute of an existing water main, full site improvements, off site right of way improvements, development of outdoor plaza and play areas, parking areas, site circulation and utilities.The new building is construction type V-B, fully sprinklered. It consists of a one-story structure with mechanical platforms.The structural system is primarily wood, including columns, beams, shear walls, roof joists and decking, concrete slab on grade. Exterior walls consist of veneer brick, metal wall panels, vinyl windows, and storefront. Roofing is single ply membrane roofing and standing seam metal roofing.
