PUBLIC NOTICE CITY OF NORTH MYRTLE BEACH SPECIAL ELECTION The Municipal Election Commission of the City of North Myrtle Beach, SC announces the Special Election for the City of North Myrtle Beach to be held Tuesday, February 24, 2026. The Special Election will fill the unexpired term for the Crescent Beach Ward, which became vacant following the November 2025 election. This is a nonpartisan election and no party affiliation shall be placed on the ballot. Any person wishing to register to vote in this election must do so no later than Saturday, January 24, 2026. One may register online at www.scvotes.gov or contact the Horry County Board of Voter Registration at (843) 915-5440. Absentee ballots must be obtained through the Horry County Voter Registration office in Conway. The following office shall be included in this election: Office: One seat for Council Member Crescent Beach WardTerm: March 2026 - November 2027 (Unexpired Term) Citizens desiring to be candidates for the above listed office may file at the North Myrtle Beach City Hall with the City Clerk. Books will open for filing on December 19, 2025, at 12 noon and remain open during regular business hours until 12 noon on January 6, 2026. The City will be closed on December 24 and 25, 2025, and January 1, 2026, for the holidays. The filing fee for Crescent Beach Council Member is $75.00. At the close of the polls, the North Myrtle Beach Municipal Election Commission will count the absentee ballots at City Hall. The Commission will meet at North Myrtle Beach City Hall at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 26, 2026, to certify the election and determine the validity of ballots challenged in the election. Any runoff will be held two weeks after the election on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
