NOTICE OF ARGUMENT FILING DEADLINES
Salida Fire Protection District
Measure J
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to the qualified electors of the Salida Fire Protection District (the "District") located in the County of Stanislaus, State of California, that in accordance with applicable law, an election will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, within the District, at which election there will be submitted to the voters the question of whether an annual special tax on properties within the District shall be established to provide funding for fire protection, fire prevention, and emergency response services.
Said measure will be referred to as "Measure J." The full text of the proposed measure is available at the Stanislaus County Elections Division, 1021 "I" Street, Suite 101, Modesto, California (209-525-5201). This measure will become effective only if approved by 2/3 of those voters voting on the measure.
The electors in the District shall vote on the following measure:

"Salida FPD Special Tax for Fire and Emergency Medical ServicesTo preserve life-saving fire protection and emergency medical services and offset inflation, shall the Salida Fire Protection District levy a special tax, including $168 per residential unit, raising approximately $1,900,000 annually, to fund local fire protection, emergency medical response, and emergency vehicles, and create an Independent Citizen Oversight Committee to monitor the use of those funds?"
The purpose and intent of the proposed ballot measure is to authorize an annual special tax on parcels of real property within the District to provide supplementary revenue to the District to use in performing fire protection, fire prevention, emergency medical response, payment of personnel costs, funding service agreements, purchasing equipment and apparatus, maintaining District property, and funding capital improvements for the benefit of the local community.
ARGUMENTS must be submitted in person to the county elections official at the office thereof at 1021 "I" Street, Suite 101, Modesto, California and may be filed by any member(s) of the board or legislative body, any registered voter or a bona fide association of citizens entitled to vote on the measure. Arguments must accompany the signature statement form signed by not more than 5 signers as required by Elections Code 9600. Only one argument for and one argument against will be selected and printed in the County Voter Information Guide. Filing deadlines are determined by the county elections official under the authority of Elections Code 9163, 9286, 9316 and 9502.
ARGUMENTS FOR OR AGAINST shall not exceed 300 words and must be filed no later than 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2026.
REBUTTAL ARGUMENTS shall not exceed 250 words and must be filed no later than 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that pursuant to current California election laws, all actively registered voters shall receive a vote by mail ballot. Vote centers will begin opening 10 days prior to Election Day to provide in person voting services. Language and accessibility assistance will be available at all voting locations. Secure ballot drop boxes will be available 29 days prior to Election Day. Vote center and secure ballot box locations, dates and times will be listed in the county voter information guide and posted on www.stanvote.gov. All vote centers and the county elections office will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that ballots from the June 2, 2026, Statewide Direct Primary Election are to be tallied and the canvass of the vote will be conducted at the Stanislaus County Registrar of Voters Office (central counting place) at 1021 "I" Street, Suite 101, Modesto, California, commencing no later than 9:00 a.m. June 4, 2026.
