Invitation to Bid
The City of Marathon is accepting sealed bids for the replacement of the 117th Street Bridge
The City of Marathon is an incorporated Municipality in the middle of the Florida Keys, serving a community of approximately 9,000 permanent residents, and close to 20,000 seasonal residents
during the peak season, December through April. The City is made up of several small islands that are connected by relatively short bridge spans to provide residents and guest access to homes and businesses. Several of the bridges were constructed over 50 years ago and have exceeded their life expectancy. The City has secured funding from FDOT for the replacement of Three of these bridges in the 2026 and 2027 fiscal year. This ITB is for the replacement of the 117th Street Bridge in the 2026 fiscal year. The 116th Street and 112th Street bridges will be let on December 2026
The work for which proposals are to be submitted consists of construction services to replace the bridge, with the work to be scheduled in the fiscal years noted.
Bid documents may be examined at City Hall, 9805 Overseas Highway, Marathon by appointment only. Bid documents are only distributed from www.demandstar.com. Bid documents obtained from any source other than Open Bids may not be accurate or complete, and each Bidder assumes all risks by its reliance on such documents. Any Bidder who have not obtained Bid Documents from Open Bids will not be notified or any addenda issued, which could contain material changes to Bid.
All bids must be received in the City Clerk's office no later than 3:00 PM eastern time, Tuesday, August 4th, 2026 located at 9805 Overseas Highway, Marathon, Florida 33050. Any bids received after 3:00 PM on said date will not be accepted and will be returned unopened.
A MANDATORY Pre-Proposal Conference will be held at the Marathon City Hall in the Conference Room on Tuesday, July 21th, 2026 at 10:00am.
The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities, except timely submission of bids, to re-advertise for bids or to take any other actions that may be deemed in the best interest of the City. As a matter of information to bidders, the City does not bind itself to accept the minimum specifications stated herein, but reserves the right to accept any bid, which in the judgment of the City Council will best serve the needs and interests of the City.
