LEGAL NOTICE Miami-Dade County's Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) intends to exchange County-owned property with the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD), and the Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund of the State of Florida (TIITF) for land needed to complete roadway improvements along SW 157 Avenue between SW 42 Street and SW 8 Street. Both state agencies acquired these lands using funds provided by the Department of the Interior (DOI), which places a restriction on the properties requiring that any transfer occurs only through an exchange for 'like property.' Additionally, in the case of TIITF, they are restricted to providing only an easement. The SFWMD property, totaling approximately 1.318 acres, will be conveyed to the County in fee simple, and the TIITF property, totaling approximately 3.042 acres, will be granted to the County as an easement for roadway purposes. These properties are required for the County's project to widen the roadway to four lanes and construct new medians, sidewalks, drainage, lighting, and related improvements. In exchange, the County will convey approximately 8.6 acres of County property previously under the Water and Sewer Department. All lands involved in the exchange were appraised to ensure a dollar-for-dollar value equivalency. The Board of County Commissioners will determine whether the County property proposed for exchange is not needed for County purposes and that the exchange is in the best interest of the County. This notice is being provided pursuant to Section 125.37, Florida Statutes, at least two weeks before consideration by the Board of County Commissioners on July 21, 2026. If a resolution is approved, the exchange will occur through the reciprocal conveyance of deeds between the County, SFWMD, and TIITF.
