PUBLIC NOTICE – COMMUNITY OPEN HOUSES
On behalf of Florida Power & Light Company (FPL), this notice provides information about electric transmission system improvements planned for the area and serves as an invitation to attend an open house where the public can learn more about the project.
Florida’s electricity needs continue to grow, and we project energy use to increase even more in the years ahead. To plan for this growth, improve service reliability for our customers, and enhance energy resiliency for the region, we are proposing to build four new transmission lines within a single corridor extending approximately 30 miles from FPL’s Andytown substation in Broward County to FPL’s planned Oasis substation in Miami-Dade County. The proposed project will also connect to FPL’s Levee and Quarry substations.
After a detailed analysis of potential routes, FPL has identified a preliminary preferred corridor within the project study area. Although the project is still in the early stages of development, we are committed to keeping the community informed throughout the process and are seeking public input on the preliminary preferred corridor as shown in the project map below.
This project will require certification under Florida’s Electric Transmission Line Siting Act (TLSA). As part of the TLSA process, state and local agencies, as well as landowners and members of the public, will have the opportunity to participate. Should the project receive approval, we plan to bring the new transmission lines into service in 2033.
Members of the public are invited to attend an open house to learn more about the project from FPL team members, who will be available to answer questions and receive public input on the selection of the preliminary preferred corridor. The format will be informal so attendees may arrive and depart at their convenience. The community open houses are scheduled for:
Wednesday, March 11, 2026, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. West Broward High School 500 NW 209 Avenue Pembroke Pines, FL 33029
Thursday, March 12, 2026, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Felix Varela Senior High School 15255 SW 96 Street Miami, FL 33196
