SUMMARY OF ORDINANCE NO. 1212 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LOS BANOS, ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE 2025 EDITION OF THE CALIFORNIA BUILDING STANDARDS CODES BY AMENDMENT TO TITLE 8 CHAPTER 1 OF THE LOS BANOS MUNICIPAL CODE On November 5, 2025 the Los Banos City Council introduced Ordinance No. 1212, which if adopted will substantially revise Title 8 of the Los Banos Municipal Code as it relates to the California Building Standards Code by adopting by reference all parts of the 2025 California Standards Building Code as follows: updates to the California Building Code, Energy Code, Historical Building Code, Referenced Standards Code, Electrical Code, Mechanical Code, Administrative Code, Existing Building Code, Green Building Standards Code, Residential Code, Plumbing Code, and the newly adopted California Wildland-Urban Interface Code The California Building Standards Commission publishes amended codes once every three years. One hundred and eighty days later, all cities and counties must follow the published standards unless the local jurisdiction amends them as allowed by law. This Ordinance adopts the new building standards mandated by the State of California that are to become effective as of January 1, 2026, and adopts amendments to these standards based on local conditions for topography, climate and geology. A copy of the complete text of the Ordinance is on file with the City Clerk, at 520 J Street. The Ordinance shall go into effect and be in full force and operation thirty (30) days after its final passage and adoption.
