Request for Bids Legal Notice: Georgia, Houston County - As participants in the Child and Adult Care Food Program, the Middle Georgia Community Action Agency Head Start Program is accepting Requests for Bids from vendors that provide bulk food items. All proposals must conform to Federal Register 7 CFR Part 226. The Nutrition Division of Bright from the Start administers the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) in Georgia. These federal nutrition programs funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) ensure that children throughout Georgia have access to nutritious meals while they are in a daycare setting. The CACFP helps to improve the overall nutritional status of many of Georgia's most vulnerable citizens. Our Head Start Program opens in August 2026 and closes in May 2027, 160 days for Head Start and 180 days for Pre-K. Each location is open Monday - Friday 7:30 am to 2:30 pm. All children enrolled receive meals and snacks free of charge. We serve breakfast, lunch and snacks to 450 children in 15 counties. Delivery must be made to the center site locations. A proposal package including a list food, supplies, and the location of center sites will be provided upon request. Proposals must be submitted and received no later than Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 12 pm. The contract period is October 1, 2026 - September 30, 2027.
