NOTICE OF LOCATION AND DESIGN APPROVAL P. I. 0017221 BIBB and HOUSTON COUNTIES Notice is hereby given in compliance with Georgia Code 22-2-109 and 32-3-5 that the Georgia Department of Transportation has approved the Location and Design of this project. The date of location and design approval is: July 18, 2025 The proposed project is located on SR 247/US 129 over the Echeconnee Creek and Overflow in Land District 5 at the county line boundary between Houston and Bibb counties. Two northbound lane (NBL) bridges over Echeconnee Creek and Echeconnee Creek Overflow and one southbound lane (SBL) over the Echeconnee Creek Overflow would be replaced. The project length is approximately 0.9 miles and the proposed typical for both NBL and SBL consists of two (2) – 12-ft lanes with a 10-ft outside shoulder/6-ft paved and a 6 ft inside shoulder/2-ft paved. The bridge over Echeconnee Creek and bridges over Echeconnee Creek Overflow will be built using staged construction and temporary traffic crossovers. The road will remain open during the entire duration of construction with a reduction in the NBL and SBL travel lanes from 2 to 1. The approximate duration for this traffic shift/lane reduction can be 18 months with the overall project construction estimated at 24-36 months. No offsite detour will be required.
