NOTICE OF OPEN-HOUSE
PUBLIC HEARING
FOR MO-291 CORRIDOR UPGRADES IN CLAY COUNTY
Notice is hereby given to all interested persons that a public hearing will be held at Woodneath Public Library, located at 8900 NE Flintlock Rd, Kansas City, MO 64157 on Thursday, September 17th, 2026, between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Access for people with disabilities is available. All interested persons will be given an opportunity to be heard concerning their views on the design for the Missouri Route 291 corridor upgrades in Clay County with reference to the area's environmental resources and consistency with the goals and objectives of the community. An open-house format will be used, and persons may discuss the project and offer comments at any time between the prescribed hours. The presently contemplated improvement is as follows:
The purpose of this project is to add more room along Missouri Route 291 for increased traffic volumes, and to increase safety throughout the proposed corridor for improvements. This project will widen MO-291 from Overton Street to just north of NE 104th Street as well as upgrade the signals at Flintlock intersection and add signals 101st Street.
Project displays and other detailed information prepared by the Missouri Department of Transportation will be available for public inspection and copying at the office of the District Engineer of the Missouri Department of Transportation, 600 NE Colbern Rd, Lee's Summit, Missouri 64086. Written statements and exhibits as well as oral statements will be received at the hearing. Written statements and exhibits will be made a part of the public hearing transcript if received within 14 days after the date of the hearing. Comments will be accepted in the form of writing or providing a recorded statement. Informational materials presented at the hearing and opportunity to comment will be available online the day after the hearing at www.modot.org/projects/missouri-route-291-corridor-upgrades-clay-county-0.
