NOTICE OF OPEN-HOUSE PUBLIC HEARING ON CONCEPTUAL STUDY FOR I-29 AND I-35 IN CLAY COUNTY
Notice is hereby given to all interested persons that a public hearing will be held at Northland Neighborhoods Inc., 5340 NE Chouteau Trafficway, Kansas City, MO 64119 on Wednesday March 18, 2026, between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Access for people with disabilities is available. All interested persons will be given an opportunity to be heard concerning their views on the design concepts for I-29 and I-35 in Clay County with reference to the area's environmental resources and consistency with the goals and objectives of the community. An open-house format will be used, and persons may discuss the project and offer comments at any time between the prescribed hours. The presently contemplated improvement is as follows:
The flyover bridge from southbound I-29 to northbound I-35, and the I-29 / I-35 bridges over Parvin Road, are nearing the ends of their service lives and need to be replaced. The project will replace these bridges. The study is also contemplating near-term and long-term improvements to the I-35/I-29 Interchange as well as improvements to I-29 and I-35 in the vicinity of the interchange.
Concept maps and other detailed information prepared by the Missouri Department of Transportation will be available for public inspection and copying at the office of the District Engineer of the Missouri Department of Transportation, 600 NE Colbern Rd, Lee's Summit, Missouri 64086. Written statements and exhibits as well as oral statements will be received at the hearing. Written statements and exhibits will be made a part of the public hearing transcript if received within 14 days after the date of the hearing. Comments will be accepted in the form of writing or providing a recorded statement. Informational materials presented at the hearing and the opportunity to comment will also be available online beginning at 4 p.m. on March 18 through 4 p.m. on April 1, 2026 at www.modot.org/projects/interstate-29-and-interstate-35-corridor-upgrades-clay-county.
