MEASURE TO BE VOTED ON AND NOTICE OF DATE FIXED FOR SUBMITTING ARGUMENTS ON THE CITY OF FRESNO TRANSACTIONS & USE TAX MEASURE Notice is hereby given that a special municipal election for the following measure is to be voted on at the Consolidated Statewide General Election to be held in the City of Fresno on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. SYNOPSIS OF MEASURE APPROVAL OF FRESNO PUBLIC SAFETY, INFRASTRUCTURE RESTORATION, AND CITY SERVICES TAX ORDINANCE The proposed ordinance would impose a 0.5% [half-cent per dollar] sales and use tax within the City of Fresno for a period of 10 years or upon implementation of a County of Fresno transportation infrastructure tax, whichever occurs first. It is estimated to raise approximately $65 million annually while retaining City of Fresno's current tax rate. Proceeds would belong to the City of Fresno and could not be taken by, and would not be shared with, the State, County, or any other agency. As a general tax, revenues raised would be directed into the City's general fund and be available for any general City purpose, including but not limited to transportation infrastructure, repairing streets, roads and sidewalks, building safe routes to schools, providing public safety and assisting 9-1-1 emergency response, maintaining public transportation systems, local airports, and other general services provided by the City. Arguments for or against the measure may be submitted to the Fresno County Clerk/Elections, 2221 Kern St., Fresno, CA 93721, no later than Monday, August 24, 2026, by 5:00 p.m. Paper copies of arguments must be submitted with original signatures, as well as by email to clerk-elections@fresnocountyca.gov in MS Word format. No argument shall exceed 300 words in length. Arguments may be submitted by the legislative body, or any member or members of the legislative body authorized by that body, or any individual voter who is eligible to vote on the measure, or bona fide association of citizens, or any combination of voters and associations. If an argument is signed by more than five persons, the names of only the first five persons signing, determined by the order in which their signatures appear, shall be printed with the argument. Only one argument for and one argument against each measure will be selected for printing and distribution to the voters. Preference and priority in selection will be given in the order named: (1) The legislative body, or member or members of the legislative body authorized by that body; (2) The individual voter or bona fide association of citizens, or combination of voters and associations, who are the bona fide sponsors or proponents of the measure; (3) Bona fide associations of citizens; (4) Individual voters who are eligible to vote on the measure.
