MEASURE TO BE VOTED ON AND NOTICE OF DATE FIXED
FOR SUBMITTING ARGUMENTS ON THE CITY OF FIREBAUGH PARCEL TAX MEASURE
Notice is hereby given that a special municipal election for the following measure is to be voted on at the Consolidated Statewide General Election to be held in the City of Firebaugh Parcel Tax Measure on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
SYNOPSIS OF MEASURE
The proposed measure imposes an annual tax in the amount of ninety-five dollars ($95.00) on each single-family residential parcel and agricultural parcel, sixty-five dollars ($65.00) per unit on each multi-family residential parcel, four hundred ninety-five dollars ($495.00) on each commercial parcel, and seven hundred fifty dollars ($750.00) on each industrial parcel. Funds generated by the additional revenue will be allocated to a special fund and shall be dedicated and used only for City Council approved fire and emergency services uses, including for the upgrade of firefighting equipment, rescue tools, vehicles, protective gear, communications systems, along with establishing paid 24-hour, 7-day-per-week emergency response shift coverage. There is no sunset clause; the ordinance will continue indefinitely, until otherwise repealed. The tax measure was placed on the ballot by the Firebaugh City Council.
Arguments for or against the measure may be submitted to the Fresno County Clerk/Elections, 2221 Kern St., Fresno, CA 93721, no later than Monday, August 24, 2026, by 5:00 p.m. Paper copies of arguments must be submitted with original signatures, as well as by email to clerk-elections@fresnocountyca.gov in MS Word format. No argument shall exceed 300 words in length. Arguments may be submitted by the legislative body, or any member or members of the legislative body authorized by that body, or any individual voter who is eligible to vote on the measure, or bona fide association of citizens, or any combination of voters and associations. If an argument is signed by more than five persons, the names of only the first five persons signing, determined by the order in which their signatures appear, shall be printed with the argument.
Only one argument for and one argument against each measure will be selected for printing and distribution to the voters. Preference and priority in selection will be given in the order named: (1) The legislative body, or member or members of the legislative body authorized by that body; (2) The individual voter or bona fide association of citizens, or combination of voters and associations, who are the bona fide sponsors or proponents of the measure; (3) Bona fide associations of citizens; (4) Individual voters who are eligible to vote on the measure. Any argument submitted shall not be changed after Monday, August 24, 2026, by 5:00 p.m.
