PUBLIC NOTICE Please take notice that the Board of Directors of the Byron-Bethany Irrigation District ("BBID") approved and/or anticipates approving water transfers totaling up to 1,500 acre feet, or up to what will be approximately 60% allocation of West Side Irrigation District's ("WSID)" water under its Central Valley Project water supply contract with the United States Bureau of Reclamation for water year 2026-2027. BBID anticipates these water transfers with some or all of the following districts: Westlands Water District, Westside Mutual Water Company, Panoche Water District, San Luis Water District, City of Coalinga, Lower Tule River Irrigation District, Pixley Irrigation District, Kern Tulare Water District, Belridge Water Storage District, Semitropic Water Storage District and Arvin-Edison Water Storage District. The water transfers encompassed in this notice are valid from March 1, 2026, through February 28, 2027. Environmental review of the transfers is complete, but approval of the Secretary of the Interior is required. This transfer is authorized under section 3405(a) of the Central Valley Project Improvement Act (Title 34 of Public Law 102-575), and in accordance with the terms and conditions of WSID's CVP water service contract. Because this transfer may result in the transfer of more than 20 percent of WSID's contract supply, this notice is provided in accordance with the water transfer provisions of section 3405(a)(2)(B) of the CVPIA. Members of the public are invited to submit comments, ask questions or provide relevant information concerning the proposed transfer described in this notice.
