NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
TO AMEND THE BOUNDARIES OF ARLINGTON TOURISM PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT, CITY OF ARLINGTON, TEXAS, TO INCLUDE CARAVAN COURT HOTEL PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 372, TEXAS LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE
Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Arlington, Texas, will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber of City Hall, 101 W. Abram Street, Arlington, Texas, to consider amending the boundaries of the public improvement district known as the Arlington Tourism Public Improvement District (the "District") to include Caravan Court Hotel pursuant to the Public Improvement District Assessment Act, Chapter 372, Texas Local Government Code for the purpose of providing the funding for certain public improvements described in Section 2 below to serve the property designated in Section 1 below.
Section 1: Proposed Amendment to District Boundaries
The boundaries of the District solely include the non-contiguous hotel properties with 75 or more rooms within the City of Arlington. The proposed amendment to the District boundaries includes an additional hotel property with 75 or more rooms that is under development and expected to be operational in the FY2026 program year in Arlington.
Section 2: General Nature and Cost of Improvements
The proposed amendment does not include any changes to the general nature and cost of the improvements as approved with the creation of the District. The general nature of the public improvements and services are designed to enhance services, undertake certain improvements, in particular, special supplemental services relating to district marketing, business recruitment and promotional activities for the improvement and promotion of the District, including the provision of incentives to organizations to encourage them to bring their large and city-wide meetings to Arlington and to fund marketing to increase hotel stays within the City.
Section 3: Method of Assessment
The proposed amendment does not change or alter the method of assessment as approved with the creation of the District. The establishment of the District called for a term of ten years, and that during this ten-year term of the District, assessments against qualifying property in the District will be two percent of the price paid to hotels for a room in a hotel. Assessments will be paid in the same manner as local hotel occupancy taxes are paid.
Section 4: Estimated cost of the public improvements
The total costs of the noted public improvement projects and programs identified in Section 2 herein are approximately $5,265,500.
Section 5: Apportionment of Costs between the District and the City
All costs of the District will be apportioned to the District. All costs of the proposed public improvements and programs will be paid by assessments of the property owners of hotels with more than 75 rooms in the City of Arlington.
All residents and property owners within the District, and all other persons, are hereby invited to appear in person, or by their attorney, and contend for or contest the amending of the boundaries of the Arlington Tourism Public Improvement District.
