The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Fort Worth District is proposing to realign and widen FM 917 in downtown Joshua from west of Avenue F to east of SH 174 in Johnson County, Texas. This notice advises the public that TxDOT will be conducting an online virtual public meeting on the proposed project, with an in-person option. The virtual meeting will consist of a pre-recorded video presentation and will include both audio and visual components. The presentation will be posted online by Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 10 a.m. and will remain online until Tuesday, May 26, 2026, 11:59 p.m. During this time, view the virtual public meeting or project materials at the following web address, or scan the QR code at the top of this page:

Additionally, TxDOT is providing an option for individuals who would like to participate in person. The in-person option will be held in a “come and go” open house format. Attendees will be able to:
• View the same pre-recorded presentation delivered in the online public meeting, which will be playing on a screen. • Participate in the project development process by reviewing hard copies of project materials and details. • Ask questions of the project team. • Submit written comments and feedback.
The in-person option will be held on: Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Come and go anytime from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
at Plum Creek Elementary, 500 Plum St., Joshua, TX 76058.
The proposed project would include realigning and widening FM 917 from just west of Avenue F to east of SH 174, for approximately 0.77 miles. The road would be widened from a two-lane to a three-lane roadway section, with a 16-foot striped median/turn lane. The improvements would form a continuous alignment of FM 917 through the City of Joshua. A new overpass would be constructed for FM 917 over the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railroad and over Main Street. There would also be an addition of a continuous bicycle and pedestrian shared-use path on one side of FM 917, and a sidewalk on the other side. The purpose of this project is to enhance mobility and connectivity, providing reliable travel times within the downtown Joshua area. The proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, require 7.5 acres of additional right of way and potentially displace 22 residences and two non-residential structures. Relocation assistance is available for displaced persons and businesses.
