NOTICE OF LOCATION AND DESIGN APPROVAL P. I. 0015559 MUSCOGEE COUNTY (GA), RUSSELL COUNTY (AL) Notice is hereby given in compliance with Georgia Code 22-2-109 and 32-3-5 that the Georgia Department of Transportation has approved the Location and Design of this project. The date of location and design approval is: June 1, 2026 The project is located 57% in Muscogee County, Georgia Congressional District 2, located on GMD 668 and 43% in Russell County, Alabama Congressional District 2. The total length of the project is approximately 0.69 mile. The proposed project would replace the existing bridge on State Route (SR). The existing single bridge will be replaced by two parallel bridges. The approved bridge Typical Section for each bridge consists of 6-ft inside shoulders, two 12-ft lanes; the outside border is made up of 4-ft buffer and 6.5-ft sidewalk. Roadway typical section on the Georgia side will be urban and made up of two 12-ft lanes in each direction, a varying width raised median; curb and gutter, 2-ft grass strip, and 5-ft sidewalks will be constructed on the outside borders. Roadway typical section on the Alabama side will be rural and made up of two 12-ft lanes in each direction, a varying width depressed median, 6-ft inside shoulders and 12-ft outside shoulders. Staged construction would be utilized to maintain traffic during construction. In addition, entrance ramp tying into SR 520 / US 280 eastbound and exit ramp tying into SR 520 / US 280 westbound will be adjusted to tie into the proposed mainline alignment. 4th Street will be resurfaced and pedestrian facilities for 4th Street will be upgraded to be ADA compliant.
