COLUMBUS CONSOLIDATED GOVERNMENT
PUBLIC NOTICE OF COMMUNITY MEETINGS
FOR THE 5-YEAR CONSOLIDATED PLAN, FY26 ANNUAL ACTION PLAN, NEIGHBORHOOD REVITALIZATION STRATEGY AREA PLAN, AND CITIZEN PARTICIPATION PLAN
The Columbus Georgia Consolidated Government is currently developing its 2026-2030 Consolidated Plan, FY2026 Annual Action Plan (AAP), Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area (NRSA) Plan and Citizen Participation Plan (CPP). The Consolidated Plan will identify community development and affordable housing needs in Columbus and set priorities for an estimated total of $13 million in federal grant funds over the next five years. These plans are required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for Columbus to receive federal money through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), the Home Investment Partnership (HOME) and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) programs.
The Community Reinvestment Department will share the opportunity to apply for funding from CDBG, HOME, and ESG programs. The range of activities that may be undertaken with these grant funds include construction or improvement of public facilities, housing rehabilitation, rental assistance, public services, economic development, homelessness prevention, and emergency shelter. After accounting for program administration and planning costs, the City estimates that at least 70% of the awarded funds will benefit low- and moderate-income residents
The planning process is heavily influenced by input from residents who are invited to participate in pop-ups, public meetings, and a survey. The public engagement events will be as follows:
