NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING BY THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS ON AMENDMENTS TO THE TEXT OF THE COLUMBUS ZONING ORDINANCE. Notice is hereby given that the Council of Columbus, Georgia will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 9:00 A.M. in the Council Chambers (3111 Citizens Way) for the purpose of hearing interested parties relative to requested changes that will amend the Zoning Ordinance as follows: Petition One – REZN-03-25-0489: A request for rezoning of 4389 Weems Road, parcel # 082-018-026. The current zoning is Single Family Residential 2 (SFR2) zoning district. The proposed zoning is Residential Multifamily 1 (RMF1) zoning district. The proposed use is Multifamily Residential Development. The Planning Advisory Commission and the Planning Department recommended Denial. Petition Two – REZN-05-25-1002: A request for rezoning of 4306 3rd Avenue, parcel # 013-001-031. The current zoning is Light Industrial/ Manufacturing (LMI) zoning district. The proposed zoning is Residential Multifamily 1 (RMF1) zoning district. The proposed use is Multifamily Residential. The Planning Advisory Commission and the Planning Department recommended Approval. Petition Three – REZN-05-25-1001: A request for rezoning of 2112 11th Avenue, parcel # 028-023-010. The current zoning is General Commercial (GC) zoning district. The proposed zoning is Residential Multifamily 1 (RFM1) zoning district. The proposed use is Single Family Residential. The Planning Advisory Commission and the Planning Department recommended Approval. Petition Four – REZN-05-25-0929: A request for rezoning of 5674 Whittlesey Boulevard, parcel # 072-016-002. The current zoning is Planned Unit Development (PUD) and General Commercial (GC) zoning district. The proposed zoning is General Commercial (GC) zoning district. The proposed use is Stormwater Detention . The Planning Advisory Commission and the Planning Department recommended Approval. Petition Five – REZN-05-25-0928: A request for rezoning of 5674 Whittlesey Boulevard, parcel # 072-016-002. The current zoning is Planned Unit Development (PUD) and General Commercial (GC) zoning district. The proposed zoning is Residential Office (RO) zoning district. The proposed use is Multifamily Residential Development. The Planning Advisory Commission and the Planning Department recommended Approval. Petition Six – REZN-06-25-1133: A request for rezoning of 3564 Forrest Road, parcel # 067-018-012 / 067-018-006. The current zoning is Neighborhood Commercial (NC) and Single Family Residential 2 (SFR2) zoning district. The proposed zoning is Single Family Residential 2 (SFR2) zoning district. The proposed use is Church with School. The Planning Advisory Commission and the Planning Department recommended Approval. Petition Seven – REZN-06-25-1135: A request for rezoning of 0 Cusseta Road, parcel # 024-022-002 / 024-022-001. The current zoning is Light Manufacturing/ Industrial (LMI) zoning district. The proposed zoning is Residential Multifamily 2 (RMF2) zoning district. The proposed use is Multifamily Residential Development. The Planning Advisory Commission and the Planning Department recommended Approval. Petition Eight – REZN-06-25-1136: A request for rezoning of 1222 5th Avenue, parcel # 018-010-010. The current zoning is Light Manufacturing/ Industrial (LMI) zoning district. The proposed zoning is Uptown (UPT) zoning district. The proposed use is Multifamily Residential and Office . The Planning Advisory Commission and the Planning Department recommended Approval. Anyone wishing to speak in opposition to any of the zoning requests who has made campaign contributions aggregating $250.00 or more to a local official of the City of Columbus within the last two years must complete a "Disclosure of Campaign Contributions" form as required by Title 36, Chapter 67-A, Official Code of Georgia Annotated. This form must be filed with the Clerk of Council office at least five (5) calendar days prior to the public hearing.
