SCDES is proposing a modification of Hazardous Waste Management Permit issued to GE Healthcare. The draft permit includes the following: Description of permit modifications in the Table of Permit Modifications. Update the Groundwater Protection Standard with current EPA standards which have consequentially updated concentration limits. Addition of Appendix F, a Site Location Map. Updated Table of Contents to adequately reflect the changes listed above. The draft permit is open for public comment from September 23, 2026, to November 6, 2026. SCDES encourages all interested persons to participate in this permitting process. Written comments or requests for a formal public hearing must be submitted no later than November 6, 2026, and should be addressed to Mr. Kent Krieg, Director of Division of Waste Management, at the above SCDES address or by e-mail at: Kent.Krieg@des.sc.gov. All written comments received by November 6, 2026, will be considered before a final permit decision is made. If a public hearing is requested and scheduled, notice will be given at least thirty (30) days in advance.
