NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
PRIOR TO FINAL ACTION
BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL
OF ORANGEBURG COUNTY
TO ADOPT AN ORDINANCE
Notice is hereby given by the County Council of Orangeburg County, South Carolina ("Council") that the Council will conduct a public hearing and third reading relating to an Ordinance "AN ORDINANCE TO LEVY AND IMPOSE A ONE PERCENT (1%) LOCAL OPTION SALES AND USE TAX WITHIN ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA, PURSUANT TO SECTION 4-10-10, ET SEQ., OF THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, AS AMENDED; TO DEFINE THE SPECIFIC PURPOSE OF THE TAX; TO IMPOSE CONDITIONS AND RESTRICTIONS UPON THE USE OF THE PROCEEDS OF THE TAX; TO PROVIDE FOR A COUNTYWIDE REFERENDUM ON NOVEMBER 3, 2026 FOR THE IMPOSITION OF THE TAX; TO PROVIDE FOR THE CONDUCT OF THE REFERENDUM BY THE ORANGEBURG COUNTY REGISTRATION AND ELECTION COMMISSION; TO PROVIDE FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE TAX; AND TO PROVIDE FOR OTHER RELATED MATTERS."
The public hearing will be held in Council Chambers on the first floor of the Orangeburg County Administrative Center located at 1437 Amelia Street in Orangeburg, South Carolina, at 9:00 a.m. on August 17, 2026. At the time and place fixed for this public hearing, all taxpayers, residents or other interested persons who appear will be given an opportunity to express their views for or against the matters contemplated by the Ordinance above-referenced.
Assistance will be provided, upon request, to accommodate the special needs of handicapped persons attending the meeting upon request. Personal needing special assistance or auxiliary aids should contact Orangeburg County at (803) 533-6152 at least seventy two (72) hours before the scheduled public hearing.
