Public Notice Pursuant to Sections 6-1-80 and 6-1-330 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina 1976, as amended, public notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of West Columbia (the “Council”), the governing body of the City of West Columbia (the “City”) will hold public hearings on the City’s planned budget for the fiscal year 2026-2027. The details of the public hearing and certain information about the planned budget are provided below. Date: Tuesday, June 2, 2026 Time: 6 p.m. Location: 200 N. 12th Street, West Columbia, SC The aforesaid hearings shall be conducted publicly and both proponents and opponents of the proposed actions shall be given full opportunity to be heard (either in person or via electronic means, as applicable). The Proposed Millage includes 66.2 in operating millage and 6.6 in general obligation debt millage. Based on preliminary assessments set by Lexington County, the proposed millage equals $10,270,000 in estimated total taxes levied. The Proposed Millage with an increase is a consideration for essential services provided through Public Safety. The Proposed Millage with an increase equals $77.60 per $1,000 of Assessed Property Value. The Proposed Millage with an increase includes 71.0 in operating millage and 6.6 in general obligation debt millage. Based on preliminary assessments set by Lexington County, the proposed millage with an increase equals $10,820,000 in estimated total taxes levied. This consideration would increase the Proposed Total Projected Revenue and Expenditure amounts for 2026-2027 to $29,350,000, resulting in a proposed percentage change for each of 11.6%. The proposed millage for fiscal year 2026-2027 is subject to the provisions of Section 6-1-320 of the South Carolina Code of Laws and may be adjusted to comply with such provision and State Laws. Pursuant to Section 30-4-80 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina 1976, as amended, notice is also given that the Council meets the first Tuesday of each month for regular meetings, and the third Monday of every month for work sessions. Meetings are scheduled for 6 p.m. at City Hall in the Council chambers at 200 N. 12th Street, West Columbia, South Carolina. The agenda for each meeting is published on the City’s website and conspicuously posted at City Hall at least 24 hours in advance of each scheduled meeting.
