PUBLIC NOTICE South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) Bureau of Land and Waste Management 2600 Bull Street Columbia, SC 29201 NOTICE OF A DRAFT HAZARDOUS & MIXED WASTE MANAGEMENT PERMIT Savannah River Site AIKEN, SOUTH CAROLINA FACILITY ID SC1 890 008 989 SCDES has received renewal permit applications for hazardous waste activities at Savannah River Site. The permit applications have been deemed complete and a draft hazardous and mixed waste management permit has been written by SCDES to regulate these activities. The draft permit has been written to comply with the South Carolina Hazardous Waste Management Regulations and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, as amended by the Hazardous and Solid Waste Amendments. The draft permit contains conditions for the following: Renewal of the TRU Pads facility Modification of postclosure care of the M-Area and Metallurgical Laboratory, F-Area, and H-Area Hazardous Waste Management Facilities, the Mixed Waste Storage Buildings facility and the Solvent Storage Tanks Modification of the Appendix D Compliance Schedule The permit application and draft permit are open for public comment from April 14, 2026, to May 29, 2026. SCDES encourages all interested persons to participate in this permitting process. All written comments received by May 29, 2026 will be considered before a final permit decision is made. Following the close of the public comment period, SCDES will make a final permit decision. A summary of SCDES's responses to all comments received will be available once a final permit decision has been made.
