Pollutant of Concern: recreation use E. coli bacteria at water quality monitoring site CRK08, hydrologic unit code 030501091403. You may submit comments on this draft total maximum daily load (TMDL) document in writing no later than 5:00 pm, May 22, 2026, to Erika Balogh, S.C. Comments will be considered in development of the final TMDL and addressed in a responsiveness summary to be provided to all commenters. Copies of the TMDL document can be obtained from the SCDES public notice web site: https://des.sc.gov/community/community-engagement/environmental-public-notices, by calling (803) 898-3806, or by writing or e-mailing the address above. The purpose of this TMDL is to calculate the pollutant reduction necessary for the impaired waterbody to achieve and maintain water quality standards. Section 303(d)(1) of the Clean Water Act (CWA), 33 U.S.C. § 1313(d)(1)(C), and the implementing regulation of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA, 40 C.F.R. § 130.7(c) (1), require the establishment of TMDLs for waters identified as impaired.
