South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) PUBLIC NOTICE OF INTENT TO MODIFY A MINE OPERATING PERMIT Martin Marietta Materials, Inc. Cayce Quarry Lexington County, South Carolina (SCDES Application I-000102) Date: April 22, 2026 Martin Marietta Materials, Inc. has applied to SCDES to modify their permit to mine granite at a site located at 2125 State Street in Lexington County, approximately 2.4 miles southwest of Columbia, South Carolina (TMS# 005800-01-001). The operator is proposing to expand the blasting limits within the current permitted area. The reclamation plan for this site is not being modified; the plan still includes restoring the site to grasslands, a lake\pond, and commercial or industrial use. The mine permit application and related documents are available for review on SCDES's website at https://des.sc.gov/publicnotices SCDES is currently conducting a technical review of the application and related documents and will accept written comments through May 14, 2026. Public comments may impact SCDES's permit decision by giving staff additional information to consider and could also be used when determining specific terms and conditions the company must follow if a permit is issued.
