The Facility recycles electric arc furnace (EAF) dust, a listed hazardous waste, in the Waelz kilns to recover Waelz Oxide (WOX), a zinc concentrate product. Befesa has operated the recycling process at the Facility since 2010. The Permit authorizes storage of EAF dust in railcars prior to introduction of the EAF dust into the recycling process at the Facility. The railcar storage area at the Facility is limited to 94 rail cars containing EAF Dust.
