NOTICE OF DISCHARGE OF UNTREATED WASTE This advertisement and a news release have been issued in compliance with North Carolina General Statute 143-215.1C (a portion of the Clean Water Act of 1999). The information below was sent to news reporters on April 21. Charlotte Water crews responded to a sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) on 4/21/2026 near 15212 Grand Palisades Pkwy. A pipe failure at a lift station caused the overflow. An estimated 69,750 Gallons reached Studman Branch in Lake Wylie. Charlotte Water maintains more than 4,638 miles of pipe. Charges from monthly water bills fund preventive maintenance, emergency response, and the safe daily delivery of more than 86 million gallons, where wastewater is treated to high water quality standards and released back into our waterways.
