RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF HUNTERSVILLE TO ADOPT THE INTENT TO CLOSE A PORTION OF NORTH CHURCH STREET AND CALL A PUBLIC HEARING FOR MAY 4, 2026 AT 6:00 P.M. AT HUNTERSVILLE TOWN HALL, HUNTERSVILLE, NC 28078

WHEREAS, the Robert Bowman has filed a petition to close a part of North Church Street in the Town of Huntersville, as further described in Exhibit A - Legal Descriptions; and
WHEREAS, N.C.G.S §160A-299 allows for a municipality to permanently close any street or public alley; and
WHEREAS, N.C.G.S. §160A-299 requires that the Board of Commissioners for the Town of Huntersville (the "Board") first adopt a resolution declaring its intent to close the street and calling a public hearing on the question; said statute further requires that the resolution shall be published once a week for four successive weeks prior to the hearing, and a copy thereof be sent by registered or certified mail to all owners of property adjoining the street as shown on the county tax records, and a notice of the closing and public hearing shall be prominently posted in at least two places along said street or public alley; and
WHEREAS, the Board desires to, pursuant to N.C.G.S. §160A-299, declare its intent to close a portion of Thread Ln, as further described in Exhibit A.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the members of the Board of Commissioners of the Town of Huntersville, North Carolina as follows:
1. The Town Board resolves that it intends to close a portion of North Church Street, as further described in Exhibit A.
2. The Town Board hereby calls a public hearing on the question of closing a portion of North Church Street to be held at 6:00pm on Monday, the 4th day of May, 2026, at Town Hall, 14704 N Old Statesville Rd, Huntersville, NC, 28078, or location as otherwise designated by the Board.
3. The Clerk of the Board is hereby directed to publish a copy of this Resolution once a week for four successive weeks prior to the public hearing.
4. This Resolution shall be effective as of the date its adoption.
