MECKLENBURG COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION & REVIEW 2026 NOTICE OF MEETINGS Pursuant to the provisions of North Carolina General Statute 105-322, the Mecklenburg County Board of Equalization and Review (BER) will meet as required by law. PURPOSE OF MEETINGS To hear upon request, any and all taxpayers who own or control taxable property assessed for taxation in Mecklenburg County, with respect to the valuation of such property, or the property of others, and to fulfill other duties and responsibilities required by law. TIME OF MEETINGS The BER will convene for its first meeting promptly at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2026. The BER will meet at this location from time to time as it deems necessary to perform its statutory duties. Meetings will begin at 9:00 a.m. or at other such times as the Board deems necessary, in the Board of Equalization and Review Room Suite 3500 at the Valerie C Woodard Building located at 3205 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, N.C. (Entrance E). The BER expects to meet as needed following the day it convenes until the adjournment date. EXPECTED ADJOURNMENT DATE The expected adjournment date for the purpose of receiving notices of appeal and requests for hearing is Monday, May 4, 2026. In the event of an earlier adjournment date, notice to that effect will be published in The Charlotte Observer one time at least five days prior to the expected adjournment date. FILING REQUIREMENTS AND MAILING ADDRESS FOR NOTICES OF APPEAL AND REQUESTS FOR HEARING A Notice of Appeal or Request for Hearing must be made in writing to, or by Personal appearance before the Board of Equalization and Review on or before the adjournment date of the BER. A Notice submitted by mail is considered to be filed as of the date shown on the postmark affixed by the United States Postal Service. If no date is shown on the postmark, or if not affixed by the United States Postal Service, the Notice shall be deemed to be filed when received in the Office of the County Assessor. In the event of a dispute as to timely filing, the burden of proof shall be on the person filing the Notice to prove that the Notice was timely filed.
