PUBLIC NOTICE Child Find The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA-Part B, Public Law 105.17) Project requires that to the extent consistent with the number and location of children with disabilities in Mecklenburg County who are enrolled by their parents in private schools located within the district, a provision is made for the Child Find process to ensure the equitable participation of those children in the program assisted or carried out under IDEA by providing for such children special education and related services in accordance with Section 612(a)(10)(A). [612(a) (10) (a) (i)]. The Project also requires meaningful participation of private schools when determining what services will be offered to private school students with disabilities. Interested persons, including representatives of private educational settings, are encouraged to attend a meeting Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. At this meeting, Exceptional Children staff will discuss available services, provide information related to evaluations for eligibility determination, and obtain feedback from participants.
