Kickoff Meeting and Application Session

To All Interested Agencies, Groups, and Persons:
Mecklenburg County would like to invite the community to attend the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) Kick-Off meeting and application session in preparation for the 2026-2027 program year Annual Action Plan (AAP). The meeting will provide information about the requirements and eligibility criteria for the CDBG program, as well as the timeline for the CDBG application period.
This public hearing is in preparation for Mecklenburg County's 2026-2027 CDBG Annual Action Plan and funding allocation. As an Entitlement County, the County received $1,022,878.00 entitlement funds for FY 2025-2026. The exact allocation for FY 2026-2027 has not been announced by HUD, but the County is anticipating receiving approximately $1,022,878.00 in CDBG funding that will be available for qualifying projects in FY 2026-2027. CDBG funding is distributed as follows: 65% to eligible housing and non-housing projects, up to 15% to public service projects/programs and up to 20% for program planning and administrative costs.
Mecklenburg County is accepting applications for projects seeking CDBG funding. The application period will start on January 27, 2026, and will close on February 27, 2026, for funding for the 2026-2027 program year.
The funding is available in a limited target area. Eligible neighborhoods and/or beneficiaries must be located in Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Matthews, Pineville, Mint Hill or the unincorporated areas of Mecklenburg County. Applications can be found at www.MecklenburgNC.gov.

The CDBG AAP Kick Off Meeting/ Application Session will take place on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 4:00 pm in person at 10735 David Taylor Drive, Suite 250 (the Carolinian conference room), Charlotte, NC 28262. The meeting is scheduled in person and virtually via zoom.
