NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING – 2026.01.13 The Waxhaw Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 6:30 PM or soon thereafter in the Waxhaw Town Hall Board Chambers, located at 4218 Waxhaw-Marvin Road, Waxhaw, NC on the following items: Text Amendment Petition TA-021-2025 is a request by the Town of Waxhaw Planning Department and the Town Attorney to amend various sections of Chapter 2 Administrative Agencies and Chapter 3 Administration and Enforcement Procedures related to the Special Use Permit process. Text Amendment Petition TA-020-2025 is a request by the Town of Waxhaw Planning Department to amend Chapter 8.3 General Requirements for Buffers, Landscaping, and Lighting, Chapter 8.10 Tree Preservation, and Chapter 8.14 Tree Species List of the Town of Waxhaw Land Development Code (LDC) by adding native and diverse planting requirements, clarifying tree preservation standards, and removing the Tree Species List. This update requires most new tree plantings to be native to the region. This update also clarifies development standards for sites that do not meet our tree preservation standards and removes the tree species list from the ordinance to allow administrative maintenance. The public is invited to attend the hearing. Substantial changes may occur to the request based on comments from the Public Hearing. The Board of Commissioners reserves the right to recess the public hearing to another place and time.
